A Tailor Who
Comes to You
in Kolkata
Mukhtar Tailor is a menswear tailor working from Park Street, Kolkata. Every garment made here is drafted to one man's measurements — suits and blazers, sherwani and bandhgala, shirts, trousers and kurta pyjama. Nothing is bought off a rail and taken in at the sides.
Mukhtar Tailor has been on Park Lane since 1989 — 37 years on the same street. Our head master, Mukhtar, spent 15 years working in Dubai and worked with Raymond through the 1990s. That is a long time to spend learning one thing, and it shows in the parts of a garment nobody photographs: how a shoulder sits, where a jacket breaks over the shoe, whether a collar stays flat when you turn your head.
The workshop is on the third floor of a Park Street building, which is a good place to make clothes and a tiresome one to visit twice. So we go to the client instead — measuring, fitting and delivering at your home or your office, anywhere in Kolkata, at no extra charge. For most of our clients, the whole thing happens without them climbing a single stair.
Our Commitments
Drafted to You, Not Adjusted
Every pattern is drawn from the client's own measurements, then fitted on the body before the garment is finished. Nothing is traced from a standard block and taken in at the seams afterwards.
Ready for the Date
Tell us the date at the first visit. Two to three weeks is the usual run for a suit or sherwani including a fitting, and if the date is tighter than that we will say so rather than promise it.
We Come to You
Measuring, fitting and delivery at your home or office anywhere in Kolkata, at no extra charge. For most clients the whole thing happens without them climbing a single stair.
Your Cloth or Ours
Bring fabric you already own — many clients do, especially for wedding sherwani — or we will show you options within your budget before anything is cut.
Park Street Since 1989
On Park Lane since 1989, on the same street as Kolkata's heritage bespoke tailors. Our head master spent 15 years in Dubai and worked with Raymond through the 1990s.
It Comes Back to Us
If something still needs easing after delivery, it returns to the workshop and is put right. That is part of the job rather than an extra.
What We Make
Menswear only — suits and blazers, sherwani and Indian wear, everyday shirts and trousers, and alterations to garments you already own.
